You can add a LibKey Link to your EBSCOhost databases by using the CustomLinks Feature.  EBSCO has created a template CustomLink specifically for LibKey Link to make it easy to get things setup.  However, there are several different options to consider in your implementation so we have provided a specific guide for the best implementation.

There are two major differences in the instructions that follow:

1. One set of instructions to follow for those with EBSCO Full Text Finder

2. One set of instructions to follow if you use any other link resolver solution (Alma, Serials Solutions 360, TDNet, SFX, etc.)

There are also additional considerations of popular options discussed at the end common to both. 

LibKey Link in EBSCOhost for libraries who also subscribe to EBSCO Full Text Finder

1. Log in to EBSCOadmin at http://eadmin.ebscohost.com.

2. Click the Site/Group Maintenance button (upper right), then click on "Go" below CustomLinks.

3. Click on Add New CustomLink.

4. Select Copy from existing CustomLink and click on Continue.

5. Select Full Text from the Category drop down list.

   1. Click on ++show other available CustomLinks.

   2. Select LibKey OpenURL Link.

6. All necessary fields have already been filled in for you. Please fill in any of remaining fields that meet your library's needs.

   1. Add your LibKey institution ID (a numeric value) to the BaseURL in place of the text “[[LibKeyID]]” and click Submit.

7. Next, add the link to your profile. Click the Customize Services Tab, select your profile and then click the Linking Sub-Tab.

8. Click the "Modify" link to the right of CustomLinks.

9. Click Add New CustomLink and mark the Select box to the left of the “LibKey OpenURL Link”.

   1. Click Submit. Your changes are saved.

10. Back on the CustomLinks screen, remove your existing link resolver by clicking on the “X” in the remove column with your link resolver listed.

11. Optional: If you would like the LibKey Link to appear *ONLY* when full text is available in your collection (which is likely how your EBSCO Full Text Finder Link was operating), click into the "LibKey OpenURL Link" that appears on the CustomLinks screen. This is *ONLY* advisable if you have a SEPARATE Custom Link for your ILL service visible on records not in your collection.

    1. Change the Show Link radio button to "If Item is in Collection".

    2. Scroll through the "Local Collections for Filter" until you find a link called "Online holdings as defined in AtoZ" ({Profile_Name}) - with that Profile Name being something unique to your library. If you are part of a consortia you may see multiple profiles listed so use this to choose the one appropriate for your local collection.

12. Repeat steps 10-14 for any other profiles to which you want to add your CustomLink.

The net result of the above is that there will generally be a few types of links appearing (there may be additional custom links beyond this if they are setup at your institution):

1. For anything present in other EBSCOhost full text collections, EBSCO will provide full text links and no LibKey Link will be present.

2. For anything NOT present in EBSCOhost but known to your EBSCO AtoZ holdings, LibKey Link will appear.

3. For anything NOT present in EBSCOhost and NOT known to your EBSCO AtoZ holdings, your ILL Custom Link will appear.

LibKey Link in EBSCOhost for libraries who use a non-EBSCO link resolver solution (Alma, SerialsSolutions 360, TDNet, SFX, etc.)

1. Log in to EBSCOadmin at http://eadmin.ebscohost.com.

2. Click the Site/Group Maintenance button (upper right), then click on Go below CustomLinks.

3. Click on Add New CustomLink.

4. Select Copy from existing CustomLink and click on Continue.

5. Select Full Text from the Category drop down list.

   1. Click on ++show other available CustomLinks.

   2. Select LibKey OpenURL Link.

6. All necessary fields have already been filled in for you. Please fill in any of remaining fields that meet your library's needs.

7. Add your LibKey institution ID (a numeric value) to the BaseURL in place of the text “[[LibKeyID]]” and click Submit.

8. Next, add the link to your profile. Click the Customize Services Tab, select your profile and then click the Linking Sub-Tab.

9. Click the "Modify" link to the right of CustomLinks.

10. Click Add New CustomLink and mark the Select box to the left of the “LibKey OpenURL Link”.

    1. Click Submit. Your changes are saved.

11. Back on the CustomLinks screen, remove your existing link resolver by clicking on the “X” in the remove column with your link resolver listed.

12. Repeat steps 10-14 for any other profiles to which you want to add your CustomLink.

The general net result of the above is (there may be additional custom links beyond this if they are setup at your institution):

1. For anything present in other EBSCOhost full text collections, EBSCO will provide full text links and no LibKey Link will be present.

2. For anything NOT present in EBSCOhost LibKey Link will appear.

Options for ALL LibKey Link Setups in EBSCOhost

You can specifically edit the LibKey OpenURL Link in EBSCOhost to appear as you see fit for your library.

By editing the custom link you can:

1. Change the Link text from the default "Full Text via LibKey Link" (you could consider different wording or make it exactly the same as your old text such as "Full Text @ Lake University", etc.

2. You can add a Link Icon which will appear to the left of the text you specify by adding a URL.

3. You can completely REMOVE the Link Text and use an icon with text, such as our official LibKey Icon which you can link to with the URL found on the main LibKey Link Page.
