Integration Overview

Trip Medical Database provides a smart, fast tool to provide high-quality clinical research evidence. The service is offered for free but also provides premium features to personal and institutional users. The Institutional Pro version now also has the benefit of connecting your LibKey subscription from Third Iron with the Trip Database to organically improve the full text resolution experience for your users!

Integration Details

Trip Pro institutional edition already features a number of full text integrations to get users to full text as smoothly as possible. As part of its data gathering it includes full text links to some articles while also utilizes data from PubMed Central as well as Unpaywall for Open Access content. Normally then in most other cases, the link would result back in a link to PubMed records but with the LibKey integration, if the material is subscribed by your library you will instead be directed directly to the content via LibKey!

After setup is complete, Trip clearly identifies LibKey links on thew platform as shown in this screenshot:

Getting Configured!

Getting setup is easy and done in just two steps:

1. Fill out the API Key Request form here: https://thirdiron.com/api-request/ to get your API Key for use in Trip Database.

2. When you receive the key from the Third Iron Ops team, just email Jon Brassley (jon.brassey@tripdatabase.com) with this information and he will configure LibKey to work with your Institution’s Account!
